As the days get shorter and the temperature drops, kids all around the UK are facing yet another yearly catch-22. On the one hand, it’s all smiles as Santa’s visit is nearing ever closer. However, on the other hand, children are quietly quaking in their boots, bracing themselves for the return of Shane MacGowan.

Like Santa, The Pogues’ singer is no-where to be seen for 11 months of the year but come the festive period, MacGowan will be all over our screens and magazines once again as Fairytale of New York gets rammed down our ears. Fair enough; it’s a Christmas classic, but for the children’s sake let’s just confine this song to radio, eh?
As it happens, after suffering dental problems his whole life, MacGowan finally had work done on those gnashers this year, to ‘stop his face falling apart’. Here at Camden Place, we reckon The Pogues should recreate a new video for Fairytale of New York; that’ll prevent parents having to cover their children’s eyes this Christmas!
